That DB would be Darrelle Revis, the future Hall of Fame cornerback whose swift drop-off from shutdown to sit-down last season compelled the New York Jets to release him following another failed attempt to make the playoffs. Although Revis is only 32 years old, the Super Bowl champion and seven-time Pro Bowler has reportedly received little interest on the free-agent market. Greg Toler, CB, Colts (NFL) — Jaguars rookie QB Blake Bortles’ NFL initiation on Sunday included a 44-17 blowout loss to Indianapolis and a pick-six thrown to Toler, who took it 47 yards to the house. Toler also had four tackles, including one tackle for a loss, and two pass breakups.
Darrius Sims, CB, Vanderbilt (NCAA) — He didn’t really do anything on defense during Vandy’s 48-34 loss to South Carolina on Saturday, but Sims still had a major impact with two kickoff return touchdowns. The sophomore corner took the opening kickoff back 91 yards, and in the third quarter he took one back 100 yards. On both returns, Sims simply spotted the hole in the Gamecocks’ kick coverage, got to that hole before anyone else, and outran everybody to the end zone untouched. Continue reading
