As soon as the pomp and circumstance of National Signing Day 2016 (Feb. 3) had dissipated, attention immediately turned to the recruiting class of 2017.
According to Scout.com, the top cornerback in that class is Darnay Holmes of Calabasas (Calif.) High School, who recently announced that he has cut his list of colleges to seven — Alabama, Arizona, Nebraska, Ohio State, Stanford, UCLA and Washington — and will make his decision this summer.
Listed at 5-foot-10 and 185-pounds, Holmes is classified as an “athlete” instead of a defensive back by some recruiting publications, because in addition to his exploits in the secondary he is also a standout receiver and kick returner.
